Tuesday Feb 20, 2024
Ryne Head joins Something For Everybody this week.
Ryne Head is a mental performance coach, baseball coach, speaker and special education teacher.
The conversation covers various topics related to baseball, mental skills, and youth sports. The first part of the conversation focuses on fatherhood and the challenges and joys it brings. The discussion then shifts to the lessons learned from playing baseball and the importance of mental skills in the game. I also discuss the pressure and business aspects of youth sports and the need for collective action to prioritize the well-being and enjoyment of young athletes. Ryne discusses the integration of mental skills with baseball skills, emphasizing the importance of incorporating mental skills into every aspect of coaching. He highlights the need for coaches to show care and build relationships with their players, recognizing them as individuals with lives beyond the game. The conversation also explores the concept of being transformational coaches, focusing on the holistic development of players. Additionally, the importance of process and performance goals, affirmations, and positive self-talk is discussed. The conversation concludes with a discussion on setting goals and reflecting on performance and a reminder of the power of love and connection in coaching.
